"Blowin' Your Mind", Van Morrison's first album, is widely regarded as a prelude to 1968's "Astral Weeks", which critics rightly hail as the Northern Irish bluesman's masterpiece. But the album "Blowin Your Mind" is a true masterpiece in its own right, featuring such epic tracks as the megahit "Brown Eyed Girl," the funky "Goodbye Baby (Baby Goodbye)" and "Midnight Special," a traditional song with a modern groove and a catchy bass line. "T. B. Sheets" is one of the most authentic songs about death, a ten-minute bluesy jam about a dying girlfriend that features one of the most claustrophobic melodies of the 1960s. The song was used to fantastic effect as the sole soundtrack to the 1999 film Bringing Out The Dead, starring Nicholas Cage and Patricia Arquette, and its cover version was composed by JOHN LEE HOOKER.
