It also topped the charts several times. Just a few days later, shocking news came: the Canadian singer-songwriter died on November 7. He was 82 years old. "You Want It Darker" is the legend's last album. The title says it all, as Cohen continues the melancholic, somber mood and deep sound of his previous albums on it. The minimalist and hypnotic title track "You Want It Darker" brought the first taste back in September. Here, the singer's spare spoken word is complemented by gospel songs from Montreal's Shaar Hashomayim synagogue choir. The singer has recorded a total of nine new songs for "You Want It Darker". Cohen's son Adam was in charge of production. Even at 82, Leonard Cohen can't get enough music. "You Want It Darker" is the title of his latest album, his last brilliant creative effort.
