Released on 18 October 1974 on the WEA label, the album was produced at Musicland studios in Munich by The Glimmer Twins, the pseudonym under which Mick Jagger and Keith Richards had produced their own music since 1973. Belgian painter Guy Peellaert depicted the band as rock gods.
