Legendary American rapper Eminem releases his eleventh studio album Music to Be Murdered By, which, like his previous album Kamikaze, is released unannounced and under the name of Eminem's "reincarnated" alter ego Slim Shady.

The album, which was produced by Dr. Dre among others, features 20 tracks with guest appearances by Skylar Grey, Ed Sheeran, Young M.A. and the recently deceased Juice WRLD. Two of the album's three cover versions are paraphrases of Jeff Alexander' s 1958 album of the same name, which features horror movie king Alfred Hitchcock on the cover, who was also a big inspiration for Eminem's current record.

As is customary for Eminem, Music to Be Murdered By has not escaped controversy. The contradictory reactions from fans and critics alike have been particularly earned by the tracks Darkness a Unaccommodating. The former refers to the 2017 Las Vegas shooting and features Eminem speaking through the mouth of the shooter. In the case of the latter, the public was again outraged by a reference to the shooting that took place at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

Eminem is an American rapper, record producer, actor and founder of the music company Shady Records. His musical career has earned him fifteen Grammy Awards and, in 2002, an Academy Award for Best Song - Lose Yourself from the world-famous film 8 Mile. His two most successful albums , The Marshall Matters LP and The Eminem Show, have sold around 40 million units and both won Diamond Awards. His biggest hits are the aforementioned Lose Yourself, Not Afraid, Love The Way You Lie (feat. Rihanna) a The Monster (again feat. Rihanna), all of which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2009, he was named the best artist of the decade and received the Global Icon award. In terms of album sales, Eminem is the most successful rapper.
