Exactly 30 years ago - on August 21, 1990 - thrash and speed metal icon Anthrax released their fifth album "Persistence Of Time". Anthrax (founded in 1981) have been icons of the world metal scene for years, together with Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer they form the "Big Four". They are considered co-founders and pioneers of the thrash metal subgenre. The work, which was awarded gold in the USA for 500,000 records sold, is now being released as a lavishly equipped 2CD set including a DVD with behind-the-scenes tour footage by Megaforce Records. The vinyl version includes 4 LPs. The artwork, reworked for this release, includes the original but ultimately unused artwork. CD1 contains fully remastered 11 tracks from the original album. The remastering, supervised by drummer Charlie Benante, was handled by Anthrax specialist Paul Logus, who has already mastered the albums "Worship Music", "For all Kings", the "Anthems" EP and the DVDs "Kings Among Scotland" and "Chile on Hell". In addition, CD1 includes a special bonus B-side of 1990's "I'm The Man", which is more hip-hop than rock, and a live version of "Time" recorded at the Michigan Palace of Auburn Hills in 1991. The last two songs on CD1 and all nine tracks on the second CD come from "Charlie's Stash," an incomparable collection of rehearsals, songwriting, demos and live performances Benante has recorded over the past 40 years. The DVD includes "guerrilla" footage from the 1991 tour during his joint shows with Iron Maiden.
