The Devil Makes Three is an American band formed in 2002 in Santa Cruz, California. The group consists of guitarist Pete Bernhard, upright bassist Lucia Turino, and guitarist and tenor banjo player Cooper McBean. They blend bluegrass, old-time music, country, folk, blues, jazz, and ragtime influences to create a distinct sound that has garnered a dedicated following. Known for their energetic live performances and unique acoustic aesthetic, The Devil Makes Three has released several albums throughout their career. Their discography includes "I'm A Stranger Here" (2013), which marked their first time working with a producer (Buddy Miller), "Redemption & Ruin" (2016), a concept album featuring covers of blues and gospel songs alongside guest musicians, and "Chains Are Broken" (2018), which introduced a drummer for the first time and showcased original material. The band has toured extensively across the United States and internationally, building a reputation for their musicianship and spirited shows.
