Legendary Stax Records Guitarist and Songwriter

Steve Cropper is a legendary American guitarist, songwriter, and producer, widely recognized for his work with the Stax Records house band, Booker T. & the M.G.'s. Born on October 21, 1941, in Willow Springs, Missouri, Cropper moved to Memphis, Tennessee, where he would become a pivotal figure in the soul music movement of the 1960s. His signature guitar playing and songwriting contributed to classic hits such as "(Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay" with Otis Redding and "In the Midnight Hour" with Wilson Pickett.
