Roger McGuinn, best known as the frontman of the influential rock band The Byrds, embarked on a solo career after the group disbanded in the early 1970s. In 1975, he formed Roger McGuinn's Thunderbyrd, a band that continued to explore his interests in rock and folk music. Although Thunderbyrd did not achieve the same level of fame as The Byrds, they were recognized for their live performances and McGuinn's signature 12-string Rickenbacker guitar sound. The band released a self-titled album in 1977, which included new material and a few reworkings of classic Byrds tracks. Despite the band's relatively short-lived existence, Roger McGuinn's contributions to music with The Byrds and his subsequent solo work have cemented his reputation as a pivotal figure in the development of folk-rock and his influence on popular music endures to this day.
