Peter Sinfield

Peter Sinfield is an English poet, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his early work with the progressive rock band King Crimson. Born on December 27, 1943, Sinfield was a founding member of King Crimson and served as their lyricist from 1969 to 1971. His evocative and often surreal lyrics became a hallmark of the band's early albums, including their influential debut "In the Court of the Crimson King." After parting ways with King Crimson, Sinfield continued his career in music, releasing a solo album titled "Still" in 1973. The album featured contributions from notable musicians such as Greg Lake and Mel Collins and showcased Sinfield's poetic songwriting outside the context of King Crimson. Beyond his solo work, he also became a successful producer and collaborator, working with artists like Emerson, Lake & Palmer and Roxy Music's Phil Manzanera. Sinfield's contributions to progressive rock have earned him recognition as an important figure in the genre's development.
