Necrophobic is a Swedish blackened death metal band that was formed in 1989. The group is known for blending the ferocity of death metal with the atmospheric elements of black metal, creating a distinctive sound within the extreme metal genre. Throughout their career, Necrophobic has been consistent in their thematic focus on satanism, darkness, and the occult, which is reflected in their lyrical content and aesthetic presentation. Over the years, they have released several albums that have cemented their status within the metal community. "The Third Antichrist," released in 1999, is one of their earlier works that showcased their aggressive style and dark themes. "Hrimthursum," which came out in 2006, further demonstrated their musical evolution and commitment to a sinister sound palette. "Womb of Lilithu," released in 2013, continued to expand their discography with a matured approach to songwriting and production. Necrophobic has maintained a presence in the metal scene through numerous lineup changes, with founding member Joakim Sterner being a constant on drums.
