Marie-Claire Alain was a renowned French organist and teacher, celebrated for her prolific recording career and expertise in the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Born on August 10, 1926, in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, she came from a family of musicians; her father, Albert Alain, was an organist and composer, and her brothers were also involved in music. She studied at the Paris Conservatoire with Marcel Dupré and Maurice Duruflé, two of the most prominent French organists of the 20th century.
