Gerry & The Pacemakers

Gerry & The Pacemakers

British Merseybeat band

Gerry & The Pacemakers were a British beat group prominent during the 1960s Merseybeat scene, alongside contemporaries like The Beatles. Formed in Liverpool in 1959, the band was led by Gerry Marsden and included his brother Fred Marsden, Les Chadwick, and Arthur McMahon, who was later replaced by Les Maguire. They are best known for their hit singles "How Do You Do It?", "I Like It", and "You'll Never Walk Alone", which became the anthem of Liverpool Football Club. Their song "Ferry Cross the Mersey" is also iconic, reflecting their Liverpool roots and giving its name to one of their albums. The band enjoyed a successful career before disbanding in 1966, but Gerry Marsden later performed with various line-ups. Gerry & The Pacemakers' music remains influential as part of the soundtrack to the 1960s British pop revolution.
