Eminem, born Marshall Bruce Mathers III on October 17, 1972, is an American rapper, songwriter, and record producer. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most influential artists in the history of hip hop. Eminem's global success and acclaimed works are largely credited with breaking racial barriers for the acceptance of white rappers in popular music. After gaining popularity with his debut album "Infinite" (1996) and the extended play "Slim Shady EP" (1997), he signed with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Entertainment and subsequently achieved mainstream popularity with "The Slim Shady LP" (1999), which won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
