Constantinople

Canadian ensemble specializing in medieval and Mediterranean music

Constantinople is a Montreal-based ensemble that specializes in the interpretation of medieval and Renaissance music, as well as contemporary compositions. The group was founded in 1998 by its artistic director, Kiya Tabassian, who is a setar player and composer. Constantinople draws its inspiration from the ancient city of the same name, reflecting a melting pot of cultures and bridging Eastern and Western musical traditions. The ensemble is known for its unique blend of sounds that combine early musical sources with the living traditions of the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
