Billy Strings is an American guitarist and bluegrass musician known for his virtuosic guitar playing and innovative approach to traditional bluegrass and roots music. Born William Apostol on October 3, 1992, in Lansing, Michigan, he adopted the stage name "Billy Strings" due to his aunt's observation of his proficiency with stringed instruments at a young age. Strings' career began to gain significant traction with the release of his debut album "Turmoil & Tinfoil" in 2017. His subsequent albums, including "Home" (2019) and "Renewal" (2021), have further solidified his reputation as a leading figure in contemporary bluegrass music. "Home" won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2021, showcasing his ability to blend traditional bluegrass with elements of rock, jazz, and psychedelia.
