Big Red Machine is an indie folk band formed as a collaboration between Aaron Dessner, best known as a member of the American indie rock band The National, and Justin Vernon, the frontman of Bon Iver. The project originated from a song titled "Big Red Machine" which was part of the collaborative compilation "Dark Was the Night," released in 2009. The duo's self-titled debut album, "Big Red Machine," was released in 2018 to critical acclaim. Their music is characterized by its experimental nature, blending elements of folk, electronic, and alternative music. The band's second album, "How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last?," was released in 2021 and featured collaborations with various artists, further establishing their reputation for innovative sounds and emotional depth.
