Classical String Ensemble

The Beethoven Quartet was a renowned string quartet that was formed in Moscow in 1923 and became one of the foremost ensembles in the Soviet Union, particularly noted for their interpretations of Ludwig van Beethoven's string quartets. The quartet's original members were violinists Dmitri Tsyganov and Vasily Shirinsky, violist Vadim Borisovsky, and cellist Sergei Shirinsky. Over the years, there were changes in personnel, with cellist Valentin Berlinsky joining in 1945 and remaining until 2007.
