Bang is an American hard rock band that formed in the early 1970s. Often considered one of the forerunners to the heavy metal genre, Bang came together when Frank Ferrara (bass and vocals), Frank Gilcken (guitar), and Tony Diorio (drums) decided to pursue a career in music. They quickly gained a reputation for their powerful live performances and were sometimes referred to as the "American Black Sabbath" due to their heavy sound and dark lyrical themes.
