Ancient is a black metal band that was formed in Bergen, Norway, in 1992. The band was originally started as a solo project by guitarist and vocalist Aphazel, but it quickly expanded into a full lineup. Ancient's music is characterized by its melodic and atmospheric elements, which set it apart from the more traditional black metal sound prevalent in Norway during the early 1990s. Over the years, Ancient has undergone several lineup changes, with Aphazel being the only constant member.
