Pioneering American punk and electronic artist

Alan Vega was an American musician and visual artist, primarily known for his work as one half of the influential proto-punk duo Suicide. Born Boruch Alan Bermowitz on June 23, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, he became a pivotal figure in the New York City underground music scene of the 1970s. Alongside instrumentalist Martin Rev, Suicide's minimalist, electronic sound and Vega's intense vocal style were highly innovative at the time and would go on to influence a wide range of musical genres, including punk, industrial, and electronic music.
