British Classical Composer and Master of Orchestral Works

Sir Edward Elgar was a prominent English composer, born on June 2, 1857, in the small village of Lower Broadheath, outside Worcester, England. His works are considered among the most important of the British classical repertoire. Elgar is best known for his orchestral works including the "Enigma Variations," "Pomp and Circumstance Marches," the "Cello Concerto," and two symphonies. His "Cello Concerto in E minor" is particularly celebrated and has become a staple in the cello repertoire.
