Iconic Punk Poet and Rock Band

Patti Smith Group is an American rock band led by singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist Patti Smith. Formed in 1974, the group quickly became an integral part of the New York City punk rock movement with their debut album "Horses," released in 1975. The band's music melds rock and roll with poetry and is known for its raw energy and rebellious spirit. Following their debut, Patti Smith Group released several more albums including "Radio Ethiopia" in 1976, "Easter" in 1978 which featured the hit single "Because the Night" co-written with Bruce Springsteen, and "Wave" in 1979.
