Canadian heavy metal band Voivod from Quebec has been around since 1982. They started as a speed metal band and developed their own distinctive style of progressive and thrash metal. Still active today, this band was one of the first thrash metal bands from Canada to make a name for themselves on the international scene, including 11 studio albums, numerous EPs, live albums and worldwide tours. The compilation "Build Your Weapons - The Very Best of The Noise Years 1986-1988" features highlights from the band's first three groundbreaking albums (Rrrröööaaarr, Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss), released on Berlin's Noise Records label.
