From the early 1950s onwards, rural, white hillbilly music became so fused with sinful rhythm'n'blues that new musical worlds called rock'n'roll, country and rockabilly could grow out of it. Well-known artists such as GENE VINCENT, CHUCK BERRY, JOHNNY WINTER and GEORGE BARNES, as well as "exotics" such as SCAT MAN CROTHERS, THE ZANIES, LOS VAMPIRANOS, DOROTHEA FLEMING and THE LANCASTERS, present here an extensive collection of haunting horror songs perfectly suited to celebrate Halloween. Although these songs are usually not among the most well-known artists, they are rarely worse than the famous big hits by the icons of the music style and make this compilation a very entertaining treat. The CD comes in a beautiful three-piece digifile sleeve with informative liner notes compiled by stage DJ and musician MARK ARMSTRONG.
