The post-war period saw a real R&B boom in New Orleans, with gospel and Latin influences mixing with soul, blues and funk. New Orleans Soul" features selections from 1960 to 1976: from the deep soul of singers like Aaron Neville, Willie Tee and Robert Parker to the raucous Northern Soul of Maurice Williams and Eldridge Holmes, the funk-influenced sound of Eddie Bo, Lionel Robinson and Ernie K-Doe, and Crescent City soul sisters like Irma Thomas, Betty Harris, Jean Knight and Inell Young.
