He was a hero and inspiration to many musicians, including Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Doro Pesch and Axel Rudi Pell. It is also said that Dio is the reason the colloquial fork for fries is the trademark of every metalhead. Now it's time for us to pay tribute to him too! Crystal Ball, Messenger, Gun Barrel, Gloryful, The Order, Metal Inquisitor, Circle Of Silence, Burden Of Grief, Love. Can. Kill, Rebellion, Iron Fate and Wizard pay tribute to this extraordinary artist with their cover versions of Ronnie James Dio songs! The author of the stunning cover art is Jan Yrlund (Darkgrove. net), who had this to say about Dio and the cover art: "I was thrilled when I was asked to do the cover because Dio is one of my favourite bands and I knew the tribute album would be really great! So I decided to make the cover look more old-fashioned and hand-painted - just like you see on a lot of Dio covers." If you look closely, you'll quickly notice hints and details of Dio's all-too-familiar motifs: the mountain has two peaks, as do the devil's horns. And, of course, the mascot Dio Murray rising from the fire is not to be missed.
