Who hasn't had a pleasant chill run down their spine in the cinema to the extremely evocative sounds of the soundtrack? Certainly a milestone of the genre that would have deserved an Oscar at the time, had Vangelis not won the coveted trophy for Chariots of Fire shortly before. This album, first released in 1994, features almost all of the atmospheres heard in the film, and there's a visually stunning future scenario. From the mysterious "Main Titles" to the fantastic "Blade Runner Blues" to the mournful "Tears In Rain" as a finale, what is fascinating here, among other things, is the uninterrupted transition between the different tracks, creating their own almost mythical (sound) world. The ancient "One More Kiss, Dear" is a welcome change from the ubiquitous synth sounds, while "Rachel's Song" or "Wait For Me" (neither of which appeared in the film) fit in perfectly with the other tracks and atmosphere. Rarely can one "immerse" oneself so well in another world. The fascination that the film exudes is captured perfectly here and it's hard to shake.
