Anniversary reissue of "White Blood Cells" To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of "White Blood Cells", The White Stripes are reissuing the album on vinyl in 2021, as a classic black LP and as Red And White Pinwheel Colored Vinyl. "White Blood Cells" is the third studio album by American rock duo The White Stripes. Originally released on July 3, 2001, just a year after its predecessor "De Stijl", it continued the duo's raw and simple garage rock. Shortly before the album's release, singer and multi-instrumentalist Jack White said in an interview: "There's no blues on the new record. We're taking a break from it. There's no slide work, no bass, no guitar solos, no cover versions. It's just me and Meg, guitar, drums and piano." According to Jack White, the 16 songs were recorded in less than four days at the Easley-McCain recording studio in Memphis, Tennessee, to keep the record "as organized as possible." He handled the production himself. The singles "Hotel Yorba", "Fell In Love With A Girl", "Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground" and "We're Going To Be Friends" were released from the White Blood Cells album. The song "Fell in Love with a Girl" reached number 21 in the UK chart. The album peaked at number 61 on the US Billboard 200 and was the commercial breakthrough for The White Stripes. It went gold three times and platinum twice.
