The former lead singer of the legendary band The Police and one of the most successful solo artists, Sting, together with Jamaican musician and singer Shaggy, releases 44/876, an album filled with joy, melody and uplifting music.The album was recorded in Jamaica and New York City in collaboration with Robbie Shakespeare, who has accompanied Bob Marley, dance hall star Aidoni, one of the Jamaican scene's most prominent figures Agent Sasco, and composers and lyricists Dwayne Shippi and Machine Gun Funk, among others. Produced by Sting International (Boombastic or It Wasn't Me) and Martin Kierszenbaum (Madonna/Lady Gaga), Jamaican rhythms were already present in Sting's previous work with The Police as well as in his solo repertoire. Shaggy, on the other hand, hails from Kingston, Jamaica, but grew up in dance hall clubs scattered throughout Brooklyn and Manhattan. Their collaboration resulted in the reggae-celebrating Morning Is Coming and Don't Make Me Wait, which pays homage to the Caribbean rhythms that influenced both artists.Don't Make Me Wait was released as a single in late January and debuted at number one on Billboard's digital reggae single sales chart. Performances at the Grammy Awards and the Super Bowl followed. The video for the single was directed by Gil Green, who has worked with Nicki Minaj and Drake in the past. Sting & Shaggy are about to embark on a European tour together.
