Roxette: Charm School Wersja na CD w standardowe wydanie. Ta konkretna edycja została wydana w Europa w wydawnictwie Roxette Recordings we współpracy z Capitol Records dnia 8. czerwca 2023.
Ten years after their last studio album "Room Service", Roxette are back in the spotlight with a brand new opus. The duo, which is one of the most internationally successful Swedish pop bands of all time with more than 70 million albums sold worldwide, is also celebrating its 25th anniversary. The new studio album "Charm School" features twelve songs that can easily be described as contemporary classic Roxette pop, firing off stylistically varied fireworks from the energetic opening "Way Out" to the bittersweet closing note "Sitting On Top Of The World". Power pop à la Roxette, though the chances of that ever happening again were slim after Maria Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2002. However, Maria overcame her illness and took the first steps to relaunch Roxette in 2009. First, Marie celebrated a live reunion with her longtime partner at Per Gessle's "Party Crasher" tour in Amsterdam, where she performed the classics "It Must Have Been Love" and "The Look". And before the fans knew it, Roxette officially returned to the stage as headliners for "Night of the Proms" in front of more than 600,000 people in Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands. "From that moment at the latest, we started thinking concretely about the possibilities of a new album and planning a record that would once again capture everything that is good about Roxette, but with a twist," says Per Gessle. Sooner said than done. Already during their tour together, hotel rooms were turned into small recording studios where the first new Roxette songs were slowly being written. Upon their return, Roxette continued recording in Sweden from spring to autumn 2010. Just like in their best days, they came up with a lot of new songs, but they also discovered old treasures - like the 1984 ballad "In My Own Way", when their big career was still far ahead of them. The latest song, the hugely infectious groove of "She`s Got Nothing On (But The Radio)," comes from this fall. In between these poles, you`ll find almost everything that has made Roxette one of the most played pop groups in the world: catchy melodies, passionate performances, humorous nonchalance and the unique combination of the voices of Maria Fredriksson and Per Gessle. "For me, the key has always been to write songs exactly for Maria's voice. She has a gift for convincing you of every word she sings, which allows her to bring the songs and their stories to life. It's a real gift for a songwriter," Per Gessle emphasises. The recordings for the new album were recorded in Stockholm and the south of Sweden and produced by Clarence Öfwerman and Christoffer Lundquist (together with Per and Maria). "Charm School" is the triumphant return of the duo in stunning form after ten years of struggles and challenges. Or as Marie Fredriksson sings in one of the album's key songs, "No One Makes It On Her Own".
