Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' debut album marks not only a new beginning for Nick Cave after the break-up of The Birthday Party, but also a new Bad Seeds formation, which at this stage consists of Blixa Bargeld (Einstürzende Neubauten), Barry Adamson (The Magazine), Anita Lane, Mick Harvey and Hugo Race. According to Nick Cave, he felt "musically liberated" and has since "put the lyrics much more to the fore". The album is undoubtedly regarded as one of the classics of the era and launched a collaboration with Mute Records that has subsequently lasted for over a quarter of a century. Tracks like "Saint Huck" and "Wing Of Flies" live off of great tension and dynamics, "From Her To Eternity" even made it into the feature film "Der Himmel über Berlin" (Wim Wenders), in which the Bad Seeds perform the song. Vinyl editions of Nick were long unavailable and traded as rarities. In October, the film "20,000 Days on Earth" will be released, which is in a sense (i.e., hyperbole) a documentary about the life and work of Nick Cave.

First up is "From Her To Eternity", the 1984 debut album from NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS. The album's title track became famous when NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS played it live in Wim Wenders' 1987 film "Der Himmel über Berlin", but it was not originally on the album. In its first version released on vinyl it contained only 7 songs. The songs "In The Ghetto" and "The Moon In The Gutter" were released as singles during the album's release and were added to the original track list for the album's first CD release, as was the title track "From Her To Eternity", which was recorded at Hans' studio in 1987.

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds and Mute have begun remastering all Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds albums and digitally mixing them into stereo and 5.1 sound. Gradually, all 14 of the band's studio albums will be re-released in new digitally remastered form.
