The presenters are Apparat (Sascha Ring) and Modeselektor (Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary). Here a thoughtful sound tinkerer and pop poet, there two techno B-boys. Both bands represent the Berlin electronic scene beyond the straight bass drum. Modeselektor are grandmasters of underground bass and electrifying breakbeats, Apparat are the gentle spirit of electronic pop music. The refusal to settle for the status quo welds all three into an artistic friendship. On their first album in 2008, they defined the Moderat sound. Swinging bass and twitchy beats on the one hand, Apparat's filigree voice on the other: it was this extreme contrast that created Moderat's unique feel.
