Michael Jackson: "Xscape" - the new album of the "King of Pop" With "Xscape", Epic Records in collaboration with the Michael Jackson Estate releases a new Michael Jackson album - almost five years after the death of the King of Pop. As the head of Epic Records, L. A. Reid has unrestricted access to Michael Jackson's archives, which include all of his vocal recordings from the past 40 years. Reid then became the curator of the final list of recordings selected for this album. These recordings were given to producers such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain. The challenge was to rework the songs so that they sounded fresh and modern, while retaining the artistic integrity of Michael Jackson at all costs. Michael Jackson's music was to be brought into the present day - just as Michael himself would do if he released the songs today. "Xscape" was released on May 9, 2014 on CD and in a deluxe edition with CD and DVD that includes the original versions and a documentary in addition to the new songs.
