Just like in the days of Steely Dan, Harry Nilsson or Prince, who released one classic album a year, Mac Demarco is preparing his next work "Another One": a Mini-LP is released just one year after the successful album "Salad Days". Demarco conceived and recorded it all in his rare spare time during his busy touring schedule, and quickly discovered that you can live in relative isolation while still strictly living in New York. In between gigs, he wrote and recorded "Another One": eight tracks that are like icing on the cake of his already impressive catalog. The first single, "A Heart Like Ears," with its organ riffs and light vocal melody, is captivating and heartwarming at the same time. The track highlights Mac Demarco's maturity as a songwriter: he's a little slicker, a little worldlier, yet still heart and soul Mac Demarco. The atmosphere of the mini-album is one of lost or never-found love, a theme the world never gets enough of - and Mac manages to follow it without becoming downcast or gloomy. The listener's feeling at the end of the eight-track EP is the same as after watching an old Bogart movie: He's still a hero, even if he didn't quite get the girl.
