Rolling Stone called "Leftoverture" Kansas' best album: it "guarantees Kansas a place right up there with Boston and Styx as one of the freshest new American bands, combining hard-hitting group instrumentation (with a dearth of ashy solos) with short, dense melodic lines and pleasing vocals."
