Blue Note Records celebrates its 80th birthday this year. Among the activities is one that is of particular interest to vinyl fans: the "Tone Poet LP series". Joe Harley, co-founder of the renowned American vinyl label Music Matters, has been commissioned by Blue Note to compile albums for an exclusive LP series. These pure analog reissues will be mastered from the original master tapes by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and pressed on 180g vinyl by Record Technology Incorporated (RTI). The original sleeves will be facsimiles of heavy laminated gatefold sleeves. In addition to two album gems by saxophonists Sam Rivers and Joe Henderson and a legendary album by big band arranger Gil Evans, Cassandra Wilson's more modern album classic "Glamoured" is also included.
