Eric Clapton and JJ Cale live in San Diego Fans of Eric Clapton shouldn't complain about the rock legend's lack of new material these days. On the contrary: 'Live In San Diego' is Clapton's third highlight of 2016, following his new album 'I Still Do' and the recently released sampler 'Crossroads Revisited'. But that's not all. The new live album is a record of an extraordinary concert. JJ Cale took the stage at the iPayOne Center in San Diego on March 15, 2007 with Clapton. "Anyway the Wind Blows", "After Midnight", "Who Am I Telling You?", "Don't Cry Sister" and of course "Cocaine". Clapton performed, among others, the blues classic "Further On Up The Road" and his legendary ballads "Wonderful Tonight" and "Layla". "Live In San Diego" featured a total of 16 songs. In addition to Cale Clapton, several other well-known musicians accompanied him on his 2007 world tour, including guitarists Derek Trucks (Tedeschi Trucks Band) and Doyle Bramhall II. The evening in San Diego included another surprise: guitarist Robert Cray came on stage to support the song "Crossroads". A previously unreleased live recording of this memorable concert is now available on two CDs and three 180g LPs. Two close friends, two legends on one stage. "Live In San Diego" documents one of Eric Clapton and JJ Cale's last performances together.
