From Nashville To Memphis: The Essential 60's Masters, which includes 5 CDs and 130 tracks, collects most of his better material and thankfully ignores much of the worse. Thankfully, the soundtracks to his films are omitted except for the songs released on the 45. Especially negative is that all of his excellent gospel material is not included either. Elvis rarely, if ever, recorded bad gospel songs and their absence here detracts from the overall quality of this set. His best albums from this period - Pot Luck, Elvis Is Back and Something For Everybody - are presented in their entirety. Even better, RCA has done a good job remastering these tracks (from their original sources), as the sound is pristine. The real heart of this massive release is the Elvis singles from the 1960s. While his albums became somewhat sporadic as the sixties progressed, his singles were consistently excellent. From the great 'U.S. Male' to 'In The Ghetto' and 'Kentucky Rain' to 'Suspicious Minds', these two discs in particular are amazing.
