Soulsavers and Gahan Part 2 "Angels & Ghosts" is the fifth album by British producer duo Soulsavers and the second collaboration with Depeche Mode singer Dave Gahan. After 2012's debut "The Light The Dead See", they simply continued writing songs together, though "together" in this case means an intercontinental exchange - Gahan's studio is located in New York's Lower Manhattan, while Soulsavers member Rich Machin lives and works in Stoke-on-Trent, UK. So the team initially sent demos and recordings back and forth until they eventually met at various studios around the world, including Sunset Sound in Los Angeles and Electric Lady Studios in New York, and recorded the album with other musicians. The result of this collaboration is called "Angels & Ghosts" and is in a way a musical continuation or further development of its predecessor. Once again, impressive string arrangements meet with blues and gospel tones. Above all, there is the emotionally charged voice of Dave Gahan, who even gets more out of it than he is used to. So the new album is even stronger, even if it's a bit darker and heavier overall. The result of this collaboration is nine songs, all of which were written by Gahan and Machin. The sound of "Angels & Ghosts" makes it clear that they were comfortable in a collective production that sounds a bit like live. That goes for the single "All Of This And Nothing," which debuted the album on September 11, 2015. Dave Gahan & Soulsavers created their own sound on their first album, which they follow up perfectly on "Angels & Ghosts".
