This new volume in the highly acclaimed Bob Dylan bootleg series focuses on one of the most controversial and inspiring periods of Dylan's career. With the album trilogy of "Slow Train Coming" (1979), "Saved" (1980) and "Shot Of Love" (1981), Bob Dylan created a body of work at the turn of the decade 1979/80 that explored spiritual themes and reflected his turn to Christianity at the time. The songs were no less poetic and deeply felt than anything else Dylan had written - yet some of his followers initially could not come to terms with this confession and the deep faith it revealed (just as Dylan's conversion to electric rock'n'roll in 1965 had put off folk purists). Concerts from this pivotal phase of Dylan's career are among the most intense and emotional performances of his career. "Trouble No More - The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 (1979 - 1981)" brings fans and music lovers a comprehensive look at this special stage of Bob Dylan's musical journey for the first time. The deluxe box set (8 CDs and 1 DVD) includes the hardcover book with an introduction by Dylan scholar Ben Rollins and liner notes by Amanda Petrusich, Rob Bowman and Penn Jillette. The deluxe box set also includes an exclusive DVD of the full-length concert film, "Trouble No More: A Musical Film". In it, unreleased footage from Dylan's 1979-1981 tours is juxtaposed with new spoken word passages by Oscar-nominated American actor Michael Shannon, written by writer Luc Sante. The film, directed by Jennifer Lebeau, was selected to premiere at the prestigious New York Film Festival. Bonus features on the DVD, available only in the box set, include a rare recording of the song "Shot Of Love" from the 1981 Avignon concert. Bob Dylan's album "Trouble No More - The Bootleg Series Vol. 13 (1979 - 1981)" is also available as a double CD and as a 4-LP set with the first two CDs of the deluxe box set. With the exception of "Ye Shall Be Changed", which appeared on "The Bootleg Series Vol. 1-3" back in 1991, no tracks from "Trouble No More" were previously available. The collection includes 14 previously unreleased tracks and a number of previously unheard live recordings, rare studio outtakes and much more. Two previous Columbia/Legacy "Bootleg Series" volumes have won Grammy Awards for Best Historical Album: 'Bob Dylan - The Cutting Edge 1965 - 1966, The Bootleg Series Vol. 12' (2017) and 'Bob Dylan - The Basement Tapes Complete, The Bootleg Series Vol. 11' (2016).
