This was King's breakthrough album that brought him well-deserved recognition and made the world take notice. It also marked a change in B. B. "old" style to a style identified with his later recordings for ABC, involving horns and overblown strings. "Live In Cook County Jail" captures B. B. firing on all eight cylinders, with the audience absolutely enthralled by his playing. It includes arguably the best live version of "The Thrill Is Gone" and fabulous versions of classic songs like "Everyday I Have The Blues," "How Blue Can You Get" and "Sweet Sixteen."
